Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how FaceMatch ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and video chat service (the "Service"). By using FaceMatch, you agree to the practices described here. We've tried to keep this clear and honest.

Information we collect

  • Session details you provide: a nickname, the gender identity you select, who you'd like to meet, your general region, and any interests you choose. You can chat without creating an account, and we do not ask for your real name.
  • Vibe points: when a chat partner awards you a point, we store the point total against a random identifier saved in your browser. This identifier is not linked to your name or contact details unless you later create an account.
  • Optional account details: if you earn enough vibe points to unlock an account and choose to create one, we store the email address you sign up with (through our authentication provider) and the profile details you save, such as your nickname. Creating an account is always optional — you can keep chatting without one.
  • Technical data: basic information your browser sends automatically, such as device type, browser, approximate location, and IP address, used to operate and secure the Service.
  • Local storage: we store your current session in your browser so you can stay connected. This is cleared when your session ends.

Your video and audio

FaceMatch video and audio calls are streamed directly between you and the person you're matched with (peer-to-peer) wherever possible. We do not record, store, or save your video or audio chats. Recording other people without their consent is strictly prohibited under our Terms of Service.

How we use information

  • To match you with another person based on your preferences and interests.
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To keep the community safe and enforce our guidelines.
  • To respond to your messages and support requests.

Cookies and advertising

We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Service working and to understand how it's used. If we display advertising, third-party vendors — including Google — may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.

Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. The nickname, gender identity, region, and interests you choose are shown to the people you are matched with so they know who they're talking to. We may share information with service providers who help us run the Service, or when required by law.

Children's privacy

FaceMatch is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the Service, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Data retention

Session information is short-lived and is not tied to a long-term account. Technical logs used for security and abuse prevention are retained only as long as reasonably necessary.

Your choices

  • You can stop using the Service and end your session at any time.
  • You can adjust cookie and ad personalization settings through the links above and in your browser.
  • You can contact us with any privacy questions or requests.

Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal information, including under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to access: you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to correction: you can ask us to correct inaccurate information, and you can edit your own profile details at any time if you have an account.
  • Right to deletion: you can ask us to delete your personal information, including your vibe points and account profile. Because chats are not recorded, there is no conversation history to delete.
  • Right to object or restrict: you can object to or ask us to limit certain processing of your information.
  • Right to non-discrimination (CCPA): we will never treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (CCPA): we do not sell personal information. You can opt out of personalized advertising cookies using the links in the advertising section above or by declining cookies in our consent banner.

To exercise any of these rights, email us through our Contact page. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days under GDPR and 45 days under CCPA). If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
