About FaceMatch

FaceMatch exists to make meeting new people online simple, welcoming, and free. When Omegle closed its doors in 2023 after more than a decade online, and other random chat services faded or pivoted away from the format, a lot of people quietly lost something they valued: a low-stakes way to have a spontaneous, face-to-face conversation with a stranger somewhere else in the world. There was no feed to maintain, no profile to polish, and no expectation beyond a few minutes of honest conversation.

We built FaceMatch to bring that experience back, and to do it more thoughtfully than the platforms that came before. Our goal is not to maximize the time you spend staring at a screen. It is to make the moment two people connect feel easy, respectful, and genuinely worth having, whether that connection lasts thirty seconds or an hour.

FaceMatch is a free, browser-based video chat that instantly connects you with another person for a one-on-one conversation. There is no account to create and nothing to download. You choose a nickname, decide how you identify and who you would like to meet, add a few interests if you like, and we pair you with someone you are likely to connect with. If a conversation is not clicking, a single tap skips to the next person. If you are done for the day, one tap ends the session entirely.

Every conversation on FaceMatch happens inside a vibe — Mingle for flirty energy, Social for smart and helpful conversation, Roast for comedy — and your partner can tap the vibe's emoji once per chat to award you a single point. Those points add up separately in each vibe and become your reputation: a record of how real strangers, one conversation at a time, experienced you. Points cannot be bought or sold, and the one-tap-per-conversation limit is enforced on our servers, so a big score has to be earned across many separate chats.

Reaching 100 points in any vibe unlocks the option to create a free account, which keeps your reputation and your preferences with you across devices. Everything happens inside your browser on your phone or computer, so there is nothing to sideload or approve in an app store. When you start matching, FaceMatch looks for another person whose preferences are compatible with yours and connects the two of you over a live video link. We use the region we detect from your timezone and any interest tags you have chosen to make those pairings feel less random and more relevant, but the choice of who you meet always stays with you.

Once you are connected, the controls are yours. Mute your microphone, switch your camera off, send a message, skip to someone new, or leave altogether, all without owing anyone an explanation. You stay anonymous the whole time; a nickname is the only detail you are asked to share, and nothing more is revealed unless you decide to share it yourself.

• Free should mean free. The core experience costs nothing, there is no premium tier, and we do not lock features behind a paywall. FaceMatch is supported by optional community donations from people who want to help keep it running.
• You're in control. You decide who you meet, and you can mute, hide your camera, skip, or leave any conversation the instant it stops feeling right.
• Anonymity by default. A nickname is all you need. We do not ask for your real name or build a profile that follows you around.
• Safety matters. Our community guidelines set a clear standard, reporting is built in, and we ask every member to help uphold it.

A platform that connects strangers has a responsibility to protect the people who use it. That responsibility shapes the way FaceMatch is run. Our community guidelines are written in plain language so there is no ambiguity about what is and is not welcome, and every member agrees to them. Reporting tools are available in every chat, so if someone behaves badly you can flag them in the moment and move on without confrontation.

FaceMatch is intended for adults. Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, sexual content, and anything illegal have no place here, and accounts that repeatedly draw reports can be temporarily paused or removed. We would rather have a smaller, kinder community than a large one that people do not feel safe in.
