How we handle different requests

Not every message needs the same response, so here's what to expect. Technical support questions usually get a reply with troubleshooting steps, and if something looks like a genuine bug we'll let you know once it's fixed. Safety reports are reviewed by a person, never an automated system alone — depending on what we find, the outcome can range from a warning to a permanent restriction, and where the law requires it we cooperate with authorities. Privacy requests, such as asking what data we hold or requesting deletion, are handled within the legal timeframes described in our Privacy Policy. Press and partnership enquiries go straight to the people who make those decisions. And plain-old feedback — the compliments, the complaints, and the "have you thought about..." ideas — gets collected and revisited every time we plan new features.

Response time

We're a small, dedicated team. We aim to respond to most messages within 1–2 business days. For urgent safety matters, please include "SAFETY" in your subject line so we can prioritize it. If you haven't heard back within a few days, check your spam folder — replies from a small team sometimes land there — and feel free to send a polite follow-up. We'd rather get two emails than have you feel ignored.

Before you write — quick answers

A few of the questions we hear most often already have answers on the site, so you might save yourself a wait:

  • Camera or microphone not working? Most issues are fixed by checking your browser's permission prompt (look for the camera icon in the address bar), closing other apps that use the camera, and refreshing the page. Our guide on looking and sounding good on video chat covers setup in detail.
  • Wondering how vibe points work? Chat partners can award each other one point per conversation, and reaching 100 points in a vibe unlocks a free account. The full explanation lives in our vibe points guide.
  • Had an uncomfortable conversation? Use the in-chat block and report buttons first — they take effect immediately and help us act faster than email can. Then check our Safety page for what happens next.
  • Questions about your data? Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what we never record (your video and audio), and how to exercise your privacy rights.

Who reads your message

FaceMatch isn't run by a faceless corporation — it's built and maintained by a small team that genuinely cares about making random video chat feel safe, inclusive, and fun again. Every email lands in a real inbox that we check daily. Safety reports are always read first, because nothing matters more to us than the community feeling protected. Feedback comes next: features like vibe points, the waiting-screen fun facts, and interest-based matching all grew out of conversations with people who took the time to write in. Even if we can't reply to every single suggestion in detail, every one of them is read and considered when we plan what to build next.

What to include in your message

The more context you give us, the faster we can help. For technical problems, it helps to mention the device and browser you're using, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. For safety reports, include the approximate date and time of the conversation and the nickname of the person involved if you remember it — we never record video or audio, so these details are what let us investigate. For privacy requests, tell us which right you'd like to exercise and we'll walk you through the next steps. And if you're writing with feedback or an idea, don't hold back — many of FaceMatch's features started as suggestions from people who use it every day.
